Cleaning Trails

As an Association, we are committed to helping the various state organizations maintain the existing trails so that everyone can enjoy them.  During the late spring and summer months, we combine many of our rides with a trail clean-up and sometimes a campout.  See Ride Information or visit our Photo Album

If you are interested in helping us maintain the trails, please join us.  Call the Ride Leader first on what tools to bring--don't forget your helmet, gloves, garbage bags, hedge trimmers, lopers, shovels, water carrying container, etc.

You can join our Association without owning an ATV or riding with us.  Your membership dollars contribute to the purchase of equipment and tools needed to help keep trails clean and open.  See Chapters for Membership Applications.

Trail Maintenance Program:

as of July, 2008

The Idaho ATV Association, Inc. has been partnering with the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation, Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management in cleaning ATV trails.  Our members have been using their own equipment to help clean the trails for over eight years.  In 2007, members contributed over 2,000 hours cleaning trails--worth over $20,000 to the State.  The Association’s Board decided it was time to have equipment dedicated for trail cleaning.  See the Photo Album for photos of our trail clean-ups.

Last year, the Boise Chapter’s Grant Committee researched and documented the type of equipment needed, and applied for several grants.  In order to fulfill grant requirements, our Association had to contribute monies as well.  Over the last several months, the Boise Chapter has been actively seeking additional contributions towards purchasing trail maintenance equipment to be used on Boise, Elmore and Gem County trails in Idaho.  Click here for list of all contributors.

As of August 31, 2008, we have received $5,002.43 in grant monies from Yamaha (Corporate TRAILS Program) and $2,742.46 of a potential $6,761.47 from Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation (IDPR).  (Click here for a copy of the IDPR Recreation Funds Allocations document.) We have also received $2,550 from Western Power Sports, Carl’s Cycle Sales, Snake River Yamaha, the Snowmobile Association, Rockie's Famous Burgers and an undisclosed contributor.  Various  Boise Chapter members have contributed over $400. Upon receipt of the IDPR grant, the total amount of donations to our Trails Maintenance Program will be over $14,000.  Click here for list of our major contributors--big thanks to all who have contributed!

The money donated will be used to purchase trail clearing equipment, such as chain saws, brush cutters, repair kits, gas cans, various hand tools, appropriate safety clothing, and a trailer to secure all the equipment.   Currently, the Boise Chapter is in the process of purchasing the equipment.  See Boise Chapter's PAPER TRACKS newsletter, August and September issues for more information or contact the Boise Chapter President.

Continued Contributions Welcomed!

The Boise Chapter of the Idaho ATV Association, Inc. will continue to accept contributions for continued support for our Trail Maintenance Program.  Chain saws always need fuel and blades replaced; therefore your continued support to help maintain the equipment is welcomed.  Questions, contact our Boise Chapter President.

Feel free to donate any amount to:
