Idaho ATV Association Founding Fathers

The Idaho ATV Association was founded in 1996 by William A "Bill" Jones and Bob Jackson in Boise, ID. They loved to ride their ATVs all over southern Idaho.  One day, up on top of a mountain, they decided that other people should be with them to enjoy the scenery. So, they contacted some of their other friends and asked them to join them.
Founding Members:  Beaver Poe, Fred Burns, Marvin Miller, Bob Gholson, Bob Jackson and Bill Jones.

Executive Director:  In addition of being the Boise Chapter President, Bill Jones is our Executive Director as well.  Please contact him if you have any questions about the Idaho ATV Association, want to start your own chapter, etc.

BILL JONES

and

BOB JACKSON

Bill and Bob officially began putting together all the paper work to start the Idaho ATV Association, Inc.  Later, they found out that Bob had cancer.  They decided that they needed to ride to as many hill tops as they could before Bob could not ride anymore.  They both, drove over 5,000 miles and loved every minute of it.  In fact, many of trails that they rode are now being shared with many members.  Bill said, "If you can get to a mountain top, Bob and I have probably been on it!"

BOB JACKSON

June 17, 2000 - Bob lost the fight with a long illness. His passing leaves a large empty spot in the hearts of many ATVers and others.

WE MISS YOU BOB ! !

Our Motto!

"Working together to keep the roads and trails open for all."

Since then, the organization has grown to include multiple chapters across the state. The Boise Chapter, alone, has over 350 members. Together, all the Chapters "Work to keep the roads and trails open for all."

The graphic on the right is a copy of the first Association logo that a group of members created in 1999 using some computer graphics.  It was used on some hats and some printed documents until the new logo was designed in 2004.

Our Web Site!

Around 1999, the Boise Chapter started this web site.  Since then, several of the other chapters have started their own. Be sure to check out their links.  See Chapters.  Our current web site was redesigned March, 2006 by Pauline Jones.  The photo used for the web page heading was taken on on an ATV ride at Basin Butte, above Stanley, Idaho.  Pauline sat on the hillside for 45 minutes waiting for the sun to come out behind the clouds so that the leaves from the Aspen trees would be bright yellow.  Johnne and Zee Miller, along with Bill Jones sat patiently waiting!

As a tribute to the two founding fathers, the old logo was redesigned by Pauline Jones.  The new logo has two trees instead of one and represent the two founding fathers--Bob and Bill.  The new logo was approved by the Board of Directors in the spring 2004 and is now being used on all the publications, clothing, web page, various chapters, etc.
